14-Year-Old Girl Gunned Down By Teen She Had Been Feuding With On Facebook Over A Boy

The squabbles between teenagers are turning into big fights in the modern world. The Chicago Tribune recently reported that one 14 year old girl shot at another 14 year old girl and killed her due to a quarrel over a boy. The situation was made worse due to facebook as the feuding happened on the facebook to begin with.

Girls fighting over boys and the vice versa is common and as old as gold. But what is new is the introduction of firearms in to these fights. According to Garry McCarthy, the Chicago Police Superintendent the girls were feuding over a boy. He added that, girls’ arguing over boys and boys’ arguing over girls is very common but bringing in a gun brought about the murder.

Martin was apparently tackled by the other 14 year old girl as she was returning home from school. The girl had a stolen gun with her. She apparently opened fire on Martin and probably shot her somewhere in the back. One bullet hit Martin’s friend a girl who was also with her. That girl was immediately taken a nearby hospital where her condition was said to be stable. Martin also was rushed to another hospital. But her injuries turned out to be fatal and she was soon pronounced to be dead by the hospital authorities.

The suspect has been arrested and charged with murder but as a juvenile. According to McCarthy, the Police Superintendent, a 17 year old boy and the teenager’s uncle will also face charges. These charges are related to the stolen gun the girl used for the shooting. These two might be accomplices who brought the gun to the scene. Later they were also trying to abandon the gun, which was the murder weapon. The gun was legal to begin with but later it became an illegal weapon, according to the police.

According to Kent Kennedy, Martin’s step father, his daughter had lost her life over a small quarrel over a boy. The squabble was on facebook between the two teenage girls, he added. He said that they were just having a verbal fight and suddenly the girl shot his daughter. He also added that the whole thing did not make any sense. He wondered how one child could kill another. Kids are dying very young and unnaturally nowadays, he added. He also said that it is terrible for parents who have to bury their own children.

Kennedy said the family had wanted to generally keep Martin safe and therefore moved her to the new school she was attending, during the tragic incident. They had thought Tilden Career Community Academy would provide a safer environment for Martin and shield her from any possible violence. She was just a freshman at the school. He also said that his step daughter loved music and also loved to dance.

Kennedy sent a very stern message to the 14 year old accused on the behalf of their whole family. He warned that this was not going to go away. He said that they would not rest till the accused is prosecuted fully. He added that the accused, along with the people who had helped her, the crowd who walked along with the teenager with a gun, were all equally responsible and completely guilty.
