20th Century Fox has set a Summer 2017 release date for Kingsman 2

Earlier this year, Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of the Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons graphic novel Kingsman: The Secret Service became a surprise hit for 20th Century Fox, grossing $128 million domestically and another $285 million overseas. It also kicked off what would be a year filled with spy thrillers and comedies.

It wasn’t long before a sequel was confirmed with Vaughn thinking of directing it himself, and now we’ve learned that 20th Century Fox isn’t going to wait that long to release a sequel, setting a June 16, 2017 release date for the spy action-comedy that will presumably bring back Taron Egerton’s now fully-trained secret agent.

While there’s no word who else might return from the first movie–if you’ve seen it then you know why it will be hard to bring many characters back, kind of like with another Millar-adapted movie Wanted–it would be the second movie based on one of Millar’s works to get a sequel after Kick-Ass 2, which Vaughn did not return to direct. So far, there hasn’t been any word whether Milllar and Gibbons might continue their story into another “The Secret Service” graphic novel (as Millar did with Kick-Ass) although Vaughn’s movie already diverged away from the comic, so it could theoretically continue on its own trajectory.

So far, the only other movie that has scheduled itself on that June 16, 2017 date is Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3, which shouldn’t have too much cross-over audience with the R-rated action-comedy.

''The Force... it's calling to you...''

Bucking (for the most part at least) the current trend for the big releases swamping us with TV spots, teasers-for-teasers-for-trailers, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has largely relied on a restrained series of promotional events and a couple of main trailers. Now here comes the third full batch of footage, and if the trend keeps up, this could be the final trailer. You’ve waited this long, so enjoy...

Yes, as foretold by Sunday’s poster – which is still generating plenty of comment for its specific lack of one Luke Skywalker – the new promo arrives with plenty of new footage.

Though this is partly the trailer intended for more general audiences (originally broadcast during Monday Night Football across the pond), there’s plenty for dedicated Wars fans to enjoy, and still doesn't exactly spell out the plot. Anchored by the idea that the adventures of Luke, Leia, Han and the rest are now treated almost more as stories than reality (it is a big galaxy far, far away, after all), the past comes rushing back with a vengeance thanks to the machinations of Imperial followers (fanatics?) The First Order. “I will finish,” says Kylo Ren menacingly while staring at Darth Vader’s twisted, scorched helmet, “What you started...” Cue lots of shots of X-Wings, TIE Fighters, storm troopers and more, all that you could wish for from Star Wars.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which features the new franchise faces Ridley, John Boyega, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie and Adam Driver joining the veteran likes of Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels, will arrive in the UK on December 17, ahead of its December 18 launch in the US. For everything we know about the film so far, point your targeting computer this a-way.

We all know you’ve been holding your breath in excitement for the full-length trailer of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’

Well, time to make some heavy inhalation noises because it’s finally here.

It has (mostly) everything.

Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey, walking across sand dunes with her buddy, BB-8.

Plenty of Storm Troopers.

The creepy Kylo Ren.

And his even creepier Darth Vader helmet shrine.

Of course, we can’t forget about Han Solo

Check out the trailer below and make all the excited noises.

Ticket presales for the movie crashed Fandango’s website, according to Deadline Hollywood. The lucky few who managed to get them before the Internet caved in will be able to see the movie as early as December 17.
