The singer's set saw her perform in front of a stained glass window and a neon 'Feminist' sign
Beyoncé broke down in tears as she accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, presented to her by husband Jay Z and her baby daughter Blue Ivy.
But not before a stellar 15-minute medley that saw her gyrate in front of a stain glass window, strut past a giant neon sign reading ‘Feminist’ and casually perform her entire self-titled album.
Of course, it was her performance at the MTV VMAs 2011 that saw her rip open her tuxedo jacket to reveal to the world for the first time that she was pregnant with her first child.
And no-one looked more impressed than Blue did as she watched her mother take to the stage from her father’s lap:
Viewers watching the performance live in the States were equally as impressed, if their reactions on Twitter were anything to go by:

Earlier on in the evening, Nicki Minaj’s performance raised eyebrows after she suffered a wardrobe malfunction midway through her duet with Ariana Grande and Jessie J on "Bang Bang".

A particularly poor pictorial tribute to Robin Williams came under heavy criticism, while Miley Cyrus eschewed her usual hyper-sexualised performance to allow a homeless youth to accept her Video of the Year award for "Wrecking Ball".
Previous winners of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award include Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
