Meet the model with Down syndrome who just made fashion history at NYFW

The American actress, best known for her role in the FX series American Horror Story, was the first model with Down syndrome to walk in New York Fashion Week on Thursday. She wore an original design by Carrie Hammer.



Brewer graced the runway as part of Hammer’s Role Models Not Runway Modelscampaign, through which the designer tries to represent the real women who purchase her clothes. 5 Reasons Why Buhari Might Loose On March 28

On March 28, 2015, Nigerians would be heading to the polls to choose a president who would govern them for the next 4 years. Unlike other countries, Nigeria has a complex political atmosphere . While Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) may appear to be gaining momentum at the moment, there are 5 likely reasons why Buhari might loose in the coming presidential election. These reasons are disused below .

1) The Independence Of INEC Has been Compromised

The independence of the an electoral body is sacrosanct in conducting credible elections in any country. In Nigeria however, the independence INEC has always been called into question. From the tenure of Abel Guobadia in (2000- 2005) to the tenure of Moris Uwu (between 2005- 2010), and even now that Atahiru Jega is at the helm of affairs, INEC is only as free as the government permits it to be. Both Abel Guobadia and Moris Iwu were criticized for overseeing elections that were not any better than that organized by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). The reason why these men failed in their their duty to provide free and fair elections is not far fetched. Nigerian politicians will never permit a free and fair election. And from the dramatic way in which the February 14 poll was shifted it, appears President Jonathan might not be ready to permit credible elections on March 28

2) Christian Vs Muslim Ideology

Nigeria is one of the most religiously divided countries in the world and the strong influence of religion has would come also come to bear on March 28. This may work against Buhari at the polls. The misconceptions about Buhari that he is a jihadist waiting to Islamize Nigeria may be his undoing at the polls. Nigerians are known to push religious sentiment above other important issues.

3) The Nigerian Army Is now A Political Party

Gone are the gallant days of the Nigerian Army . In recent times the Nigerian Army has become a shadow of itself. In other countries, the military separates itself from politics and never blurs that line. During the Arab spring in 2011, the military in several Arab countries who had sit –in-tight dictators lived up to the expectation, they tasked themselves with protecting lives and property and did not go further. In Nigeria, the opposite holds sway, the Nigerian Army has become a product of our decayed society. A career in the army is now about looking for juicy postings and ghana must go bags. Following the manner the Nigerian Army handled the Buhari certificate saga, it is clear whose side they are on, on the side of our Oga at the top. The one who can guarantees them juicy postings and jumbo retirement benefits, President Jonathan. With a partial military, Buhari would likely loose on March 28.

4) PDP Is Poised To Win By All Means

If the recent audio tape by Sahara reporters which purports to record how the Ekiti elections were rigged in 2014 is anything to go by, then Buhari has lost even before the March 28 election begins. The People’s Democratic Party has been in power for 16 years with little to show for it. The PDP is well known for surrounding it self with individuals who lack credibility, from Alamieyeseigha who jumped bail in England by dressing as a woman to James Ibori and other politicians who are see credibility as a virtue too expensive to afford. If PDP can decorate itself with politicians like these, then Buhari can kiss Free and fair elections goodbye.

5) Tribalism

Tribalism just like religion is another huddle that Gen Buhari might be unable to cross. The contest between President Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party and Gen Buhari of the All Progressive Party has been portrayed through the eyes of many as a contest between a Southerner and a Northerner. Politicians have also taken advantage of this loophole to champion the crusade that Buhari is from the northern part of the country where majority of Nigeria’s past rulers hail from. They they feel that all non-northerners should unite and vote President Jonathan because as a southerner, he deserves to be in power. Sadly, this view is shared by many Nigerians and this could make Buhari loose come March 28.

If Buhari cannot scale these hurdle then he could be inline to loose the presidential election for the third consecutive time.

Facebook lets you choose what happens to your profile after you die

You can't take your Facebook friends with you to the afterlife, but at least you can now prevent your snarky comments about Drag Race serving as a poor memorial. The social network has announced that users will be able to designate a legacy contact that can maintain their accounts after they have died. According to the Wall Street Journal, a new group of options will let you pick a digital executor to run your page as a memorial, or elect to have your profile deleted once it's proven that you've passed away.

Currently, if the site learns of your death, your page is frozen, and although no adverts are run, this can sometimes have unfortunate consequences. According to the paper, US users will begin to see the options appearing from today, with other nations coming on shortly afterward. Privacy-conscious users will also be reassured to learn that your nominated Facebook friend will be able to see your photos and public posts, but not your private messages. In addition, Facebook says that if a person hasn't been nominated on the site, but was asked to do the same job in a will, then the site will respect the deceased's wishes.

Alamiesiegha's Son's Wife Caught With Lover In Hotel

The 7-months marriage of Tonbra Alamieyesiegha, one of the sons of former Bayelsa state governor has reportedly crashed.

According to report on Stella Dimorkokorkus, Tonbra and his wife, Chikodi Stell Ononiwu parted ways because she was caught cheating on him.

It was gathered from insiders that Chikodi started dating a married banker simply identified as Ernest, who also lives in Abuja.

The pair were said to have been sending each other love text messages and also meeting secretly.

Unknown to her, her illicit activities was being monitored. On that fateful day, Thursday February 6,2015, her husband Tonbra left town on a business trip. After saying their goodbyes, she immediately alerted her lover, Ernest, who later came to pick her from her house.

He then took her to the hotel where they normally meet in secret to unleash their passion. Little did they know they were being trailed.

The people who have been keeping tabs on her burst into the hotel room and there they caught Chikodi pants down with Ernest.

Convinced of his wife’s infidelity, Tonbara was said to have thrown her out of the house. She has reportedly returned to her parents’ house while her lover has disappeared into thin air.

It was gathered that there was an open air of hostility between Chikodi and her in-laws when she was still with Tonbra, therefore she can’t approach any of them to beg on her behalf.

Insiders say Tonbra, who is really emotionally battered has vowed to move on with his life.

Chikodi is the CEO of House of Diella. Her bride price was paid by Tonbra on July 19, 2014 in Nwangele LGA, Imo state.

Lekki/Epe toll gate goes if I’m elected governor - Jimi Agbaje says

Lagos state PDP gubernatorial candidate Jimi Agbaje, has promised to pull down the Lekki/Epe toll gates, if elected next governor of the state. He said this at a peaceful protest, tagged March for freedom, organised by Freedom Group in Lekki

"I am here to show solidarity with you on the issue of the toll plaza for which you are marching today and assure you that when we get into office, these toll gates will come down; I will demolish all of them. The public/private partnership, PPP, arrangement behind this project is not transparent.
Look at the BRT and Lagos light rail projects, they are collapsing because the PPP arrangements they have on ground are not sustainable. The light rail which was supposed to have been ready since 2012, is grounded and this is because of vested interests of a few people. The PPP arrangements are skewed to favour only a few people, so for me, I am in solidarity with you and a vote for us is a vote for freedom, a vote to bring down the toll plazas.” Mr Agbaje said (source -Vanguard)
