In an interview with Sun News, 9ice says he plans to quit music to concentrate fully on politics because he can't be singing at 35. He can't? What he said below...

Yes, I want to leave music for politics. Next year January, I will be 35-years-old and I’m not praying to still be in music at that age. I am serious about politics now. If you listen to my music, you would notice that politics has been part of me; it’s in my blood. When I started initially, I talked about being your brother’s keeper, and that’s why I studied Law at Lagos State University before I dropped out to concentrate on my music career. I hate when things go wrong. When two or three people are having issues, I love to get there to settle their differences. I have passion for politics and it has always been in my blood."

If you go fully into politics, most of your friends and fans will miss you?
I will say they will love me more by the time they see the plans that I have for them. I have so many plans on my mind. Imagine if the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was a politician, he will not just criticize the mistakes of our leaders but also correct them. Imagine if Wole Soyinka was to be the president of this nation, people like him are only preaching the truth and criticising the government but they are not ready to get into politics to make corrections. I am tired of preaching, I want to contribute my own quota for the sake of my people. We have graduates riding commercial motorcycles (okada), selling meat etc, their certificates are not being used but they are shouting that the government is not doing well. There can’t be any change if the youths don’t stand-up now to do something to help the country

Apple has launched yet another mobile software update this week, and this time it (hopefully) won't knock out your iPhone's cellular service. Available now, iOS 8.0.2 brings the HealthKit and Reachability fixes that were meant for iOS 8.0.1, while avoiding the cellular network issue that plagued the previous update.

One of iOS 8.0.1's intended features was to minimize data usage during text messages, but the update caused a multitude of iPhone owners to lose their cellular signal entirely after downloading the patch. As a result, Apple took the update down within an hour and provided affected users with a way to downgrade back to iOS 8.0 via iTunes.

The suspect, who had just lost his job, was stabbing a second female employee when he was shot by the boss.

A man who had just been sacked at an Oklahoma food plant decapitated one female worker and stabbed another before he was shot and wounded by the boss.

Police said Alton Nolen, 30, was "angry" after losing his job when he launched into a knife rampage at Vaughan Foods in Moore on Thursday afternoon.

Mark Vaughn, chief operating officer of the business and also a reserve police officer, is being hailed as a hero after he shot Nolen while the suspect was stabbing a second woman.
The scene outside the plant in the aftermath of the attack

Authorities say it appears Nolen targeted the workers at random.

The attack began at about 4pm when he went to the car park and drove his vehicle to the front of the warehouse where he hit another car.

Nolen then walked through the main entrance and began his rampage.

Police spokesman Jeremy Lewis told a press conference that Nolen's colleagues had said "he recently started trying to convert several employees to the Muslim religion".

However, it is not clear if his beliefs had any link to the attack. The FBI is also investigating the incident.

The first victim has been identified as 54-year-old Colleen Hufford.

Mr Lewis told Friday morning's press conference: "He did kill Colleen and he did sever her head."

Nolen and the second victim, 43-year-old Traci Johnson, are both in a stable condition in hospital, said police.

Mr Lewis praised Mr Vaughn's swift action.

"It could have gotten a lot worse," he said. "This guy (Nolen) was definitely not going to stop."

There were said to be several hundred employees inside the warehouse at the time of the attack.

According to the state department of corrections, Nolen was convicted in 2011 of marijuana possession, intent to distribute cocaine, escape from detention and assault on a police officer.

Vaughan Foods spokeswoman Danielle Katcher said everyone at the company was "shocked and deeply saddened" by Thursday's attack.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the team member we lost and all those affected," said her statement.

Employees would be offered counselling, she added.

Three hotel attendants, who allegedly recorded a customer’s sexual affair and demanded a

ransom of N10 million, were on Thursday charged before an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’

Court in Lagos. The employees had used the hotel’s CCTV to record the guest’s sexual

exploit with his girlfriend. The accused: Sunday Okon, 23; Rita Emmanuel, 28; and

Goodness Akpan, 24, whose addresses are unknown, are facing a four-count charge of

fraud, demanding property with menace, conspiracy and indecent practices. Prosecutor

Uche Simon told the court that the accused had on Aug. 13 at a hotel in Ogudu area of

Lagos conspired to record a guest while sleeping with his girlfriend. According to him, the

accused produced a VCD on it which they circulated to residents of the area. He alleged

that they also demanded a N10 million ransom and threatened to post it on the facebook if

the man failed to part with the money. “The accused actually posted it on the facebook

between Aug. 13 and 23.’’ Simon said the offences contravened Sections 136, 166 (d), 299

and 409 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The  accused may be sentenced to a

minimum of three years each on conviction. The three men pleaded not guilty and were

granted bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum. Three

attendants were taken to Kirikiri Prisons pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions. The

Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. J. Awope, adjourned the case to Sept. 19 for mention.

Lizzy Idahosa and partner Jackson Omoruyi deny all allegations against them

Two Nigerian woman trafficked into the UK sex trade were put through 'witchcraft' ordeals to ensure they obeyed, Cardiff Crown Court has heard.

The women, in their 20s, say they had to drink dirty water, eat a snake or snail, and had their hair shaved.

It is claimed they worked in brothels to repay co-defendant Lizzy Idahosa £50,000 for travel and false documents.

Ms Idahosa, 24, denies seven charges including trafficking for prostitution and moving criminal property.

Her partner Jackson Omoruyi, 41, denies three charges of inciting the women to become prostitutes and transferring criminal property.

The women, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said the "juju" ritual - sometimes known as voodoo or magic - left them fearing illness, madness, infertility and death.

They genuinely believed the powers would work, the court heard.

One woman explained how she had been living rough in Nigeria after her mother died when she was 10 years old and was offered the chance to go to the UK, where she believed her father was living.

She was helped to get false documents to travel to the UK by a woman she was told was the sister of one of the defendants.

Underwear

She met up with one of the defendants when she finally arrived in London, and was taken to premises in King Cross where there were lots of women in their underwear.

Ms Idahosa then took her to a similar set-up in Ilford where the witness had sex with a man for money, the court heard.

The court was told the woman often had sex with seven or eight men a day and was moved around a number of brothels in Croydon, Stevenage, Brighton, Swansea and Cardiff.

Sometimes she would meet Ms Idahosa to hand over cash while at other times the defendant would text details of an account for her to pay in money.

The woman told police she could have left the brothels at any time but felt compelled by the juju ceremonies she had been put through, while Ms Idahosa often used violence against her, she said.

The second woman said she was approached in Nigeria by a woman claiming to be the defendant's mother and asked if she wanted to go to London and work in a shop.

'Dust'

She was also sworn to secrecy through a juju rite, the prosecution alleges.

The ritual involved having to eat a snail and an egg together with dust.

Caroline Rees, prosecuting, outlined how the woman was told to tell border control at Heathrow she was a lesbian who was fleeing persecution in Nigeria.

After escaping secure immigration accommodation she contacted Ms Idahosa - to be told she owed a debt of £50,000 to the defendant.

Ms Idahosa had threatened her family in Nigeria would be harmed if she spoke out, the court heard.

The prosecution maintains the banks accounts whose details Ms Idahosa texted were owned by Mr Omoruyi and he often then transferred money to his co-defendant.

'Adults services'

The two defendants were arrested in April 2014 at a London address where police found a number of phones with texts that matched the bank details, as well as two pages from a newspaper advertising adult services.

Ms Idahosa denies all the charges and says she is a victim of trafficking and she left the sex trade in 2011.

She denies a total of seven charges relating to trafficking two women into and around the UK, inciting them to become prostitutes and transferring criminal property.

Mr Omoruyi denies three charges of inciting the women to become prostitutes and transferring criminal property.
EA Sports announces demo download milestone today as full version is released in North America.

More than 5.5 million people downloaded the FIFA 15 demo, representing a record for any EA Sports demo ever released, Electronic Arts announced today.

The 5.5 million figure represents the number of people who have played the demo on one or more of the following platforms: PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. The FIFA 15 demo is still available to download, so the figure could climb even higher.

FIFA 15 launched tuesday in North America, and EA Sports--unsurprisingly--says the professional soccer game will raise the bar for the franchise.

"We believe we have built a game in FIFA 15 that delivers the most immersive and responsive gameplay experience ever in the FIFA franchise, and we can't wait for the millions of fans to start their season and experience all of the innovations," EA Sports executive David Rutter said in a statement.

Versions of FIFA 15 for Wii, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita are also in the works, and will be released later on.

If you're not into console or PC gaming or want to complement your big screen experience, you can also now download FIFA 15 Ultimate Team for iOS, Windows, and Android devices. It's a free game that lets you earn, trade, and collect soccer superstars like FIFA 15 cover star Lionel Messi.

Two suspected car snatchers, who were paraded by the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, said they snatched a Honda Accord while the owner was romancing a woman in the vehicle. PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspects ─ Babatunde Makinde and Faruk Lawal ─ were apprehended by the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Mushin, Lagos, on Monday, September 22. Our correspondent learnt that the two suspects were on their way to snatch N20m from a man who was to travel out of the country. The suspects were said to have snatched the Honda Accord on Morrocco Street, Somolu. The vehicle was used for their transportation. However, while they had yet to reach their destination, it was learnt that the police, who already got wind of their movement, swooped on them. According to the police, two locally-made double barrel and single barrel guns, 28 live cartridges and the snatched Honda Accord Saloon car were recovered from the gang after arrest. Speaking with PUNCH Metro, 33-year-old Makinde confessed that it was one Dayo, said to be the gang leader, who tipped them that a wealthy man was travelling abroad with about N20m. He said, “We were on our way to rob the man when we noticed the man in the vehicle. It was in the evening at about 7pm. We saw the man and a lady making out in the vehicle. The man was all over the lady while the door glasses of the vehicle were slightly wound down. We bust in on them, hit the man on the head and dragged both of them out. Then, we took the vehicle. “We did not want to go for our operation with a bike so that the police would not stop us. That was why we snatched the man’s vehicle.” Lawal, 38, added that the police, who were on their trail, apprehended them while they were just about to enter their would-be victim’s house . The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Cornelius Aderanti, said investigations were in progress to get other members of the gang.

No one told Miley Cyrus that it's not only rude, but literally illegal, to floss a fake plastic booty with the Mexican flag in Mexico. So when Cyrus's back up dancer used said flag on said booty on Tuesday — which was also Mexican Independence Day — it didn't go down well.

The interior ministry is leaning towards fining the concert promoters Zignia Live for not monitoring the content of the show. In a statement, Zignia publicists argued that they couldn't interfere, but have asked Miley to be more careful from now on. FromMilenio:

"The artist brings his show and actually we can not as promoter interfere in what he does... the truth is that this issue in particular is talking to her to have a little more care and will not be repeated in other cities," said Dante Guillen, manager national press and promotion Zignia Live.

In recent years, several artists have been investigated and fined for doing much less to desecrate the flag. As La Prensa noted, actress and singer Thalia was almost fined for posing topless with the flag draped around her until she argued it happened in a different country. Another actress, Paulina Rubio, was fined 53,000 pesos ($4,000) for appearing on the cover of a Spanish magazine wearing only the flag. Both of these incidents are arguably less disrespectful than wiping a butt.

Mexicans are split over whether this was just another dumb Miley controversy or an affront to the dignity of their country. Everyone agrees that it's trashy, but no one's sure just how much attention it warrants. In other words, they're having the same Miley debate we've been having for the last year: at what point does tastelessness stop (or start) being newsworthy?

Several people were understandably outraged. Quién compiled a list of "celebrity" (mostly journalist) reactions. News anchor Paola Rojas wrote that she was "outraged by what happened in the Miley Cyrus show." Popular writer Fernanda Familiartweeted that the interior ministry deserved a standing ovation for considering sanctions over the controversy.

There were also calls to move on. Jesus Navarro, one of the members of the Mexican band Reik (they sound like The Backstreet Boys, in a good way) tweeted "Everyone who was offended by what Miley Cyrus did needs to dig a hole, get in there and never leave":

Founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group Jack Ma attends the company's initial price offering (IPO) at the New York Stock Exchange on September 19, 2014 in New York City.Andrew Burton—Getty Images
Alibaba may be a Chinese company, but this IPO is an all-American way for inside holders to get rich
Alibaba Raises $22 Billion in Record IPO
Meet Alibaba Founder Jack Ma

Jack Ma was lousy at math as a kid, and began his career as an English-language instructor in Hangzhou, China. He seems to have addressed that deficiency quite nicely. Ma, 50, is executive chairman of Alibaba, China’s biggest internet commerce company, which just launched an Initial Public Offering on the New York Stock Exchange that raised some $22 billion. It’s the biggest IPO on record. Alibaba’s shares were priced at $68—the high end of the range set by investment bankers—but when trading started the price jumped to $92.70. That values the company at about $232 billion, bigger than Facebook, IBM, Amazon and that tech fossil IBM. Ma’s shares are worth close to $18 billion, even after selling some $867 million in the IPO.

Alibaba does little retail business in the United States; it was originally designed to provide an online wholesale marketplace that connected Chinese companies with buyers all over the world. But the company now includes an e-Bay knockoff called Taobao that did indeed knock e-Bay out of the way in China; Tmall.com, a brands and retail platform, a cloud computing operation and other retail and wholesale businesses. “Alibaba is synonymous with e-commerce in China,” the company said in its filing statement.

And it is also synonymous with the frenetic tech IPO market in the U.S. The companied initially tried to list its shares on the Hong Kong Exchange, which would seem to be a friendly home. But its byzantine ownership structure, with Ma at the center of a web of interrelated companies tied to Alibaba, wasn’t deemed fairly structured enough to meet the Hong Kong exchange’s rules. Nor did Alibaba list with NASDAQ, always seen as friendlier to tech IPOs and to companies with multiple share classes. Instead, Alibaba listed with the old-school New York Stock Exchange. According to the NYSE, Alibaba is the 25th tech company to list its shares this year.

Except that you are not actually buying Alibaba’s shares directly, since China’s government won’t allow foreigners to control one of its most prized companies. Investors are buying shares in something called a variable interest entity that has a claim on the company’s earnings. The VIE is registered in the Cayman Islands—yes, the Cayman Islands!—that black hole of offshore money. And did I mention that Alibaba is in China. As global auto companies are learning, political risk is not unknown in that country, and even though Alibaba is a home team favorite, foreign holders are just that.

Ma is more than familiar with the way the investment cycle works, as well as the Chinese government. He was introduced to the Internet in 1995, in Seattle, and set out to become China’s web pioneer. He linked up with Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang for a $1 billion investment 2005 that will paying off enormously for the otherwisestruggling American firm. Throughout it all, he has done things his way. In this regard, Ma has a lot in common with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch. If you are a big fan of shareholder democracy, you might have the wrong outfit in Alibaba.

All of this should tell investors to tread very cautiously. Yeah, right. Even as talk of another tech bubble keeps bubbling up in Silicon Valley, investors have demonstrated over and over that they are not going to be dissuaded from taking the plunge in the red-hot IPO pool. There are some compelling things about Alibaba. Yes, China, for one. The company’s IPO cites data claims there are 500 million mobile internet users in China and 279 million active buyers. Better yet, only 8% of all shopping is currently done online in China. And the Chinese government is not only raising wages but wants consumer spending to become a greater force in its economy.

The potential is enormous, of course, and Alibaba is not a startup. It’s a company with $7.3 billion in sales that earns actual profits. But the question for investors is always about how much you want to pay for growth. And when it comes to tech, the answer is often: too much. Alibaba may be a Chinese company, but this IPO is an all-American way for inside holders to get rich, or in Ma’s case, dynastically rich.

Back in July, we told you about a 30-year-old real estate agent by the name of TaQoya Branscomb, who filed a lawsuit against Mathew Knowles alleging that he is the father of her 4-year-old daughter, Koi. As previously reported, Branscomb alleged that she and Mathew conceived her daughter back in 2010 and was requesting a DNA test, child support and money to cover her attorney’s fees.

Well, the results from that DNA test are in and it looks like Solange and Beyoncé have a 4-year-old sister. TMZ recently recovered a copy of the court ordered paternity test and there’s a 99.998% certainty that Knowles is the father of the toddler.

Of course, Branscomb is now expected to go after him for child support, which should be interesting since his child support obligations to his son’s mother, AlexSandra Wright, were slashed due to the fact that he’s struggling financially since being fired as Beyoncé’s manager.

As you may recall, shortly after news of TaQoya’s paternity suit broke, there were reports that she was actually a friend of Solange after a throwback photo of the two of them together surfaced. The “Losing You” singer however, eventually had a rep come forward to deny those claims.

We can only imagine what’s going through the minds of Bey and Solo right now…SMH.

News of the birth of the Hollywood couple's first child emerges after nearly a week of secrecy, US media reports.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling with fellow actor Bradley Cooper (far left)

Actors Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have become parents for the first time, but kept the birth secret for almost a week.

Mendes gave birth to the baby girl on Friday September 12, according to US media.

The couple had also kept the news of Mendes' pregnancy to themselves for a long time, with the first reports emerging in July when she was already seven months pregnant.

The 40-year-old has not been seen on the red carpet since February and had brushed off pregnancy rumours earlier this year.

At the time she said: "It's so ridiculous.

"It all started because I didn't want to go through the scanners at the airport. You know those X-ray scanners which are really creepy? They basically see you naked, right?

"And, not only that, but there's a radiation aspect to it so I always opt out."

Mendes, who made her name in the 2001 blockbuster Training Day, has been dating The Notebook star Gosling, 33, for three years.

Both played parents in the film The Place Beyond The Pines last year.

Health and fitness-tracking app updates pulled, with cure expected by the end of September

Apple’s new Health app is part of iOS 8, but third-party HealthKit apps are missing for now. Photograph: PR

Apple may have launched its iOS 8 software update for iOS devices, but one of its key features ran into last-minute problems forcing developers to pull their apps.

HealthKit is Apple’s new platform for health and fitness apps to share people’s data between themselves, as well as with the new Health app that’s part of iOS 8.

A number of apps were expected to launch HealthKit-compatible updates as iOS 8 rolled out, but they are now unlikely to go live until the end of September.

“We discovered a bug that prevents us from making HealthKit apps available on iOS 8 today,” Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller told CNET, in a statement.

“We’re working quickly to have the bug fixed in a software update and have HealthKit apps available by the end of the month.”

Having its ambitious new fitness system derailed by a surprise bug is a setback for Apple, which has been working with a number of developers and medical institutions on its move into personal health.

MyFitnessPal, WebMD and Carrot Fit are among the apps affected by the last-minute delay. Carrot Fit developer Brian Mueller told Cult of Mac that he was informed of the problems in a call from Apple.

“The rep couldn’t clarify what was wrong, though users of the app who had already downloaded the update were able to use the HealthKit features without any issue.”

Although apps using HealthKit were removed from Apple’s App Store, most are expected to revert to previous versions in the coming days, while Apple works on a fix for the bug.

HealthKit, along with Apple’s soon-to-launch Apple Pay payment system, is under particular scrutiny since the recent mass-leak of celebrities’ private photos, many of which were stolen by “brute-force” attacks on their iCloud accounts.

There is currently no indication that the HealthKit bug is related to security, but with Apple aiming to make iOS users feel comfortable tracking and storing their personal health data on its devices, launching HealthKit with any major bug could spark unease.

HealthKit is also a key part of the upcoming Apple Watch product, but if the company meets its goal of fixing the problem by the end of September, the bug is unlikely to have an impact on the wearable device’s launch in early 2015.
