Jessica Barrymore Suicide: Drew Barrymore’s Half-Sister Found Dead With ‘Dozens Of White Pills’

Drew Barrymore's estranged half-sister Jessica Barrymore was reportedly found dead in her car Tuesday in San Diego in a suspected suicide.

According to ABC 10 San Diego, the 48-year-old older sibling was discovered by a neighbor in her car with “dozens of white pills” scattered around the passenger’s seat.

Drew Barrymore released a statement Wednesday to the New York Daily Newsabout her estranged sister.

"Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss," Barrymore told the Daily News.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed to ABC 10 they had the body of a deceased Jessica Barrymore.

In her final Facebook post, Barrymore reposted a photo and message from Mystera Magazine that read:

“Life doesn't always introduce you to the people you WANT to meet. Sometimes,#life puts you in touch with the people you NEED to meet to Help You, to Hurt You, to Guide You, to Leave You, to Love You, and to gradually Strengthen You into the Person You Were Meant to Become.”

The neighbor, Marta Lopez, told ABC 10 she was leaving for work Tuesday morning but Barrymore’s car was blocking her. Lopez said she found Barrymore, who did not respond, lifeless in the driver’s seat.

Another neighbor, Oscar Sandoval, told ABC 10 he saw Barrymore’s car parked since “around midnight” and “thought she was sleeping or waiting for someone.”

Drew Barrymore, 39, is the youngest child of actor John Drew Barrymore of the Barrymore acting dynasty. The New York Daily News reported that Jessica, whose birth name was Brahma Blyth Barrymore, was the third child of the actor and his fourth wife, Nina Wayne. Drew Barrymore’s mother is actress Jaid Barrymore.

Jessica Barrymore would have turned 48 on Thursday, ABC 10 reported.

Now a mother of two, Drew Barrymore has admitted her turbulent childhoodand struggles with addiction over the years including alcohol, marijuana and cocaine, all before the age of 12. The actress also revealed in her autobiography, “Little Girl Lost,” that she had two stints in rehab, one at 13 years old and another at 15.
